Refining the ERA5-based global model for vertical adjustment of zenith tropospheric delay

Abstract Tropospheric delay is an important factor affecting high precision Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning and also the basic data for GNSS atmospheric research. However, existing tropospheric models have some problems, such as only a single function used entire atmosphere. In this paper, ERA5-based (the fifth generation of European Centre Medium-Range Weather Forecasts Reanalysis) global model vertical adjustment Zenith Delay (ZTD) using piecewise developed. The ZTD at 611 radiosonde stations MERRA-2 (second Modern-Era Retrospective analysis Research Applications) reanalysis were to validate reliability. Piecewise (GZTD-P) has excellent performance compared with Pressure Temperature (GPT3) model. Validated stations, GZTD-P was improved by 0.96 cm (23%) relative GPT3 data, quality 1.8 (50%) model, showing better accuracy stability. different resolutions established enrich model's applicability speed up process calculation. By providing parameters resolutions, users can choose appropriate according their applications.
